Life isn't fair :(
I'm with you. 'Play the game' was good, but THAT good?
That sucks, I was pretty sure I was gonna win a runner-up prize.
hrm.. don't be too hard on Tom. I am pretty sure that Armor Games did the judging. Other than that, most people I've heard from seem to agree.
Just keep trying... It's not about the prizes anyway, it's about contributing to the community and having fun. If the prizes are important to you, let this be motivation to make an even awesome-er game next contest. I thought most of the winners were pretty deserving anyway. I'm sure it's really hard for the judges to pick from so many great submissions.
I agree with you in some aspects. BoM Beat Battle was an original game and executed fairly well. However, "rip offs" aren't as bad as you make them out to be - as long as they try to build on the game they're based off. It's improving on the original idea. But some of these games didn't do that.
And I think Tom did the music judging and AG did the games judging, seeing as how it was their contest. So uh. Beat on them. And let me join. =)

The rip offs in the games were poorly designed clones, I don't understand how they can win, when they don't even try to design original game play.
